Dubai Places Second in BCG's First Intelligent Cities Index

Dubai has ranked second globally in the Boston Consulting Group's inaugural Intelligent Cities Index, which assessed 61 major cities across 39 countries on their progress in deploying digital technologies and artificial intelligence to deliver outcomes for residents and businesses. It is the first index of its kind published by BCG.

The emirate placed first worldwide in the index's Adoption domain, which measures the rollout of AI technologies and smart city solutions, recording the strongest performance of any city across the index's five domains. The index evaluated cities using 35 indicators spanning 14 dimensions of digital transformation, grouped into five domains: Outcomes, Strategy, Adoption, Ways of Working and Enablers.

Ranking Reflects Years of Investment in Digital Government Services

The result builds on years of investment in digital infrastructure and government technology platforms, with Dubai authorities having rolled out AI-powered services across sectors including transport, healthcare and public administration in recent years.

Dubai has positioned itself as a regional hub for artificial intelligence investment, and the emirate is preparing to host GITEX Tech-cation 2026 in December, an event organisers say is being built into the world's largest gathering dedicated to technology and AI.
