A Government-Wide Push to Adopt Autonomous AI Systems
The UAE is moving ahead with plans to transform 50 percent of government sectors, services and operations into models powered by Agentic AI within the next two years, as officials work to build the technology and data infrastructure needed for the shift. The Higher Committee for Agentic AI organised the "Agentic AI and Data Technology Track" workshop, bringing together government leaders, Chief AI Officers and representatives from government entities to strengthen coordination and prepare the systems needed to expand its use.
Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications and chairman of the track, said the UAE is working towards a proactive government model that uses future technologies to improve efficiency and readiness. He described the Agentic AI Project as the world's first comprehensive government-wide initiative of its kind, aimed at bringing entities together and speeding up the development of the technology and data systems required to support the transition.
A Unified Platform With Built-In Safeguards
Officials at the workshop reviewed the Agentic AI Project's five main tracks, covering operations and institutional support, strategic government work, government services, technology and data, and capacity building and training, along with requirements for data governance, infrastructure and system integration. Participants were introduced to the Federal Agentic AI Technology Platform, known as FedAI, which will give federal entities a common technology infrastructure to develop and adopt Agentic AI solutions. Through the National AI Gateway, entities will access a range of AI platforms through a single secure access point, with the ability to use commercial models, open-source models hosted on sovereign infrastructure, and new models added over time.
The workshop also outlined how Agentic AI systems will be classified and assessed, with a self-assessment mechanism based on technical and operational criteria used to determine whether systems meet the required standards, part of an effort to standardise implementation and strengthen governance. More than 10 technology companies and vendors supporting the transition were showcased at the event. The initiative forms part of the UAE Government 4.0 journey and is paired with the largest government training programme in the country's history, aiming to equip 80,000 public sector workers with Agentic AI tools and skills.
