Passengers travelling on Etihad Rail's inaugural passenger service will be able to bring domestic pets on board after the operator confirmed its travel policies ahead of the network's launch.
The UAE's first national passenger rail service between Abu Dhabi and Fujairah begins operations on Tuesday, with Etihad Rail allowing domestic pets, including dogs and falcons, to travel in approved carriers measuring no more than 55cm × 40cm × 23cm.
The pet carrier will count as the passenger's cabin baggage allowance, meaning travellers cannot bring an additional carry-on bag. Pets must remain inside their carrier throughout the journey, with one carrier permitted per passenger.
Etihad Rail also confirmed that certified assistance dogs will be accepted, provided arrangements are made in advance through the Etihad Rail Contact Centre.
The operator has also introduced policies for families and passengers with mobility needs. Each child may travel with one folded pushchair free of charge, while passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids will be accommodated. Only electric wheelchairs fitted with manufacturer-installed batteries will be accepted, and dedicated wheelchair spaces must be reserved during booking.
However, bicycles and electric scooters will not be permitted onboard under the current passenger travel policy.
