The UAE is strengthening its tax ecosystem by expanding Emirati expertise, modernising compliance systems and improving digital tax services, rather than introducing new general taxes on travellers, residents or tourism businesses.
The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) recently outlined plans to expand the national tax agent profession, enhance digital tax services and improve compliance across the UAE. The initiative aims to build a stronger network of qualified Emirati tax professionals while supporting businesses with clearer guidance and more efficient tax administration.
For the travel, hospitality, retail, MICE and tourism sectors, the changes are expected to improve access to tax advisory services, strengthen corporate tax compliance and prepare businesses for electronic invoicing and other digital reporting requirements.
A key part of the strategy is the UAE National Tax Agent Programme, which aims to train 500 Emiratis over the next three years. The first group of 50 participants began training in April 2026, specialising in VAT and corporate tax to support both public and private sector organisations.
The initiative aligns with the UAE's broader corporate tax framework and reflects the country's continued focus on strengthening tax governance, supporting economic growth and maintaining an internationally competitive business environment.
