Super 98 and Diesel Lead the August Increase
The UAE Fuel Price Committee has announced new retail petrol and diesel prices for August 2026, with rates rising across the board after a brief dip in July. Under the revised prices, which took effect on August 1, Super 98 petrol now costs Dh3.60 per litre, up from Dh3.40 in July, while Special 95 petrol rose to Dh3.49 per litre from Dh3.29. E-Plus 91 petrol increased to Dh3.41 per litre from Dh3.21, and diesel climbed to Dh3.80 per litre from Dh3.60 the previous month.
The Fuel Price Committee reviews and adjusts rates at the end of each month in line with prevailing trends in global energy markets, and the August increase marks a reversal after prices eased in July following four consecutive months of hikes. Motorists across the UAE will feel the change most directly in monthly transport budgets, since fuel remains one of the largest recurring household expenses for residents who commute by car.
Second Rise in Prices After Months of Regional Volatility
UAE fuel prices have been unusually volatile over the past year, having climbed more than 60% since late February amid wider instability in regional energy markets before easing back in July. August's increase suggests that pressure on global oil prices has resumed, even after last month's brief relief for drivers.
For UAE residents and businesses that rely on diesel for generators, logistics and commercial vehicles, the jump to Dh3.80 per litre adds a further cost pressure on top of the petrol increases. The Fuel Price Committee is expected to continue reviewing rates on a monthly basis, with the next adjustment due to be announced at the end of August for September pricing.
